Sandals for children: tips for choosing the right one.
Children's sandals: when to wear them?
How to choose the best children's sandals
- the right size: the first requirement to evaluate in a sandal is the comfort in putting on the shoe. The child should feel stable in their sandals. One method of not getting the size wrong is to remove the insole from the child's most comfortable shoe and measure its length and width, remembering to add about 0.3 - 0.5 cm. This result will correspond to the real size of the shoe;
- the material: in the summer the foot tends to sweat more and, for this reason, it is good to buy high quality footwear. Those in real leather with polyester straps or sandals in elastic foam are preferred, also perfect for water;
- the sole must be light and comfortable. The best sandals are made with soles based on elastic foam, such as neoprene, or in cork;
- closures: for the little ones, sandals with tear-off closures will be recommended, much easier to wear and intuitive. For older children, Velcro fasteners or buckles are the best options. The choice is subjective and depends on the child's age and independence;
- colors and model: it is good to choose a sandal that has neutral colors internally. This allows you to avoid that the color, with the heat and sweating, can stain the foot. As a model for the little ones it is good to choose sandals closed on the heel because they give greater stability to the ankles.
It is advisable that during the first days it would be better to have the child wear the sandals with a cotton sock and not barefoot, to allow the little foot to adapt without too much effort to the new shoe.
