During pregnancy, it is advisable to pay more attention to your personal hygiene for your own well-being and for the unborn child.

BATH OR SHOWER

Contrary to popular belief, the bathroom is by no means advised against during pregnancy. Instead, it represents a valid system with which the expectant mother can relax and devote herself completely to the care of her own person. It is advisable to do it in the evening, before going to sleep, immersing yourself completely in hot water, if possible, with a background music that stimulates relaxation. As for the choice of products, the neutral ones, delicate on the skin and not excessively aggressive are preferable. The addition of bath salts in the water is particularly indicated because it helps to keep sweating under control, which often increases abundantly during the nine months of gestation.

The shower, on the other hand, has an energizing and stimulating effect and can be useful for relieving the feeling of heaviness that accompanies the last months of pregnancy. The alternation of jets of hot and cold water not only stimulates blood circulation, but is especially useful for toning the muscles. Therefore, it should be practiced regularly to keep the skin turgid and firm, especially in the areas most at risk (abdomen, breasts, inner and outer thighs).
After a bath or shower it is essential that the expectant mother continues to take care of herself by spreading a moisturizer all over her body that is able to counteract the onset of stretch marks (inevitable starting from the 5th / 7th month). In particular, it is good to use specific products on breasts, abdomen and thighs, the most critical points and where the most evident signs of skin relaxation could be.
A tip: in the last months before giving birth, the size of the belly can make movements awkward with the risk of slips and falls. If possible, therefore, avoid entering the tub / shower when you are alone in the house.

PERSONAL CARE

If this is not the case, intimate hygiene must become a daily gesture performed with care and attention during pregnancy. The intimate area of ​​the future mother, in fact, is particularly sensitive in these months to any attacks by viruses and bacteria that could cause the onset of any pathologies. Therefore, the choice of intimate cleanser must not be random. Better to focus on specific products with a rather low pH (3.5) that have a proven antiseptic action and have deodorant and refreshing properties.

ORAL HYGIENE

Also in this case, it is good that oral hygiene becomes a daily gesture to be practiced always after the main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). During pregnancy, in fact, the gums are more sensitive and the teeth, due to the lower calcium intake, can be more fragile and exposed to the attack of caries. It is recommended to use a toothbrush with soft bristles so as not to further irritate the gums.

ANIMALS

The presence of pets in the house during pregnancy is not really recommended since they could be the vehicle of diseases and transmission of viruses and bacteria, normally harmless but which can become dangerous in the 9 months of gestation (just think of toxoplasmosis). In any case, during pregnancy it is good to minimize contact with animals, taking care to always wash your hands after touching them, cleaning their litter box, giving them food.
